Process Steps

Step 1

Launch Internet Explorer

Step 2

Type in the web address www.moatrade.gov.jm

Step 3

Type in your username and password and select login

Step 4

Select apply for the import permit from Veterinary & Inspection Division link.

Step 5

Input the consignor country and the country of origin. Select search items.

Step 6 Type the products you which to search for in the ‘look up description’ box and select search. For each item searched press select to add to your item box.
Step 7 Fill out all the fields in the Arrival details, Consignee and Consignor Information section. In the item details fill out the quantity and total weight for each item and ensure the correct units are selected.. Select Submit.
Step 8 A five (5) digit application number will be generated. The processing time for import permit applications is one (1) to five (5) working days
Step 9 Payments for veterinary import permits can be made: a) Online using a credit (MasterCard/ Visa/ Keycard) or VISA debit card. b) At the Cashier located at the Veterinary Services Division, MICAF 193 Old Hope Road, and Kingston 6.
Step 10 Once Veterinary Import Permits have been paid for and issued they can be collected at the Permit Office at the Veterinary Services Division 193 Old Hope Road, Kingston 8. Importers are issued with two (2) copies of the Veterinary Import Permit an ‘Importer’s Copy’ and an ‘Exporter’s Copy’. The ‘Exporters Copy’ should be submitted to the consignor to ensure compliance with import requirements.

 

Note: All permits are valid for a period of three (3) months with the exception of specific poultry based items which are valid for a period of two (2) months. Permits become invalid on the expiry date and when used to import a part or whole of the quantity of the product stated on the permit.
