The Trade Act
The Trade (Prohibition of Importation) (Equipment containing Chlorofluorocarbons) Order, 1998
In exercise of the power conferred upon the Minister by section 8 of the Trade Act and of every other power hereunto enabling the following Order is hereby made: -
1. This Order may be cited as the Trade (Prohibition of Importation) (Equipment containing Chlorofluorocarbons) Order, 1998.
2. The importation into Jamaica of equipment ( containing or using chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) listed in the first column of the Schedule hereto is hereby prohibited absolutely as of the respective dates specified in the second column of that Schedule.
3. Nothing in this Order shall apply to the importation of CFC-based propellants in metered dose inhalers.
4. The provisions of paragraph 2 and 3 shall have effect notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any law or other enactment.

Commercial refrigeration units including display cabinets,
bottle coolers and soda fountains. 1.3.98
Air conditioning units for domestic commercial and industrial use 1.3.98
Aerosols, foams and solvents which use or are made up of the following
ozone depleting substances -
CFC 11
CFC 12
CFC 113
CFC 114
CFC 115 1.3.98
Vehicular air conditioning units 1.4.98
Halon-based fire-fighting equipment 1.3.98
